Brief Dated History



January 25th 1943:- The formation of the 146th Engineer Combat Regiment at Camp Swift, Texas

September 1943 - March 1944:- The 146th is stationed at the Assault Training Centre in Barnstaple, Devon, England.

 April 1944 - May 1944:- The 146th trains for the D-Day Mission.

 June 6th 1944:- D - DAY the 146th disembarked on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France.

June 1944 - August 1944:- The 146th takes part in the Battle for Normandy.

August 1944 - October 1944:- The 146th joins in the mad dash across Europe, passing on the way through liberated Paris.

November 1944 - December 1944:- The 146th is engaged as infantry at Vossenack, close to the Belgium/ German border.

December 1944 - January 1945:- The 146th gets involved in the Battle of the Bulge on its Northern shoulder in the area of Happenbach, Belgium.

February 1945 - May 1945:- The 146th penetrates the Third Reich.

May 1945 - June 1945:- VE Day and on to Pilsen, Zchecoslovakia.

July 1945 -September 1945:- The 146th is engaged in the reconstruction of the City of Pilsen's water and gas mains and its members begin to be sent home.

October 1945:- The remainder of the 146th are sent to Camp Shanks, New York from where it's members are sent for discharge to camps closer to their homes.


First Wave 44 are dedicated to keeping the history alive to teach and show the younger generation what these brave young men went through.
